This history of 1020 Saint Louis Street began long, long ago and will be covered in a separate story, The Steinmeyer House.

Early in the 1870\'s Judge Michael G. Dale built his elegant home on Fairgrounds Road.  In 1890 he sold this property to Henry Steinmeyer.  The ranch style home at 1020 Saint Louis Street is located in the center of  the large front lawn of the Dale/Steinmeyer home and is now recorded as Lot 2, except the west 15 feet thereof, in Block 1 in Steinmeyer Subdivision.  Maurice \"Jug\" and Arlene Fruit started construction of the home in 1966.  Wendell \"Wendy\" and Jean Wohlford purchased the partially completed home and finished the construction. Bill and Karen Mateyka purchased the home from the Wolhfords in 1999.  The Mateykas have since added a fireplace room, sunroom and brick patio area.
